Obverse description Laureate head of Emperor Septimius Severus facing right, with short beard rendered in the characteristic style of his early provincial portraiture. The imperial effigy is depicted with naturalistic features and occupies the central field. The Greek legend encircles the bust, reading from upper left around the periphery of the flan. The strike is somewhat irregular, consistent with provincial hammered coinage of the Pergamene conventus.
