Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Septimius Severus facing right, with the emperor's characteristic full beard and strong portraiture typical of early Severan provincial coinage. The Greek imperial titulature legend runs around the periphery of the flan. The portrait displays the robust modeling and slightly rough execution characteristic of the Hierocaesarea civic mint.
