Reverse description A cornucopia shown upright at centre, its body filled with fruit and foliage rendered in low relief, characteristic of provincial Phrygian bronze coinage of the Julio-Claudian period. To the left of the cornucopia stands a labrys (double axe), a symbol strongly associated with the religious traditions of Hierapolis and the wider Phrygian region. The encircling Greek legend, distributed around the field, names the local magistrate Lucius Helvius Optomus and identifies the issuing civic authority.
