Obverse description Bare-headed, cuirassed bust of Emperor Marcus Aurelius facing right, with characteristic curly hair and beard rendered in the Antonine portrait style. The emperor is depicted in military dress, with the pteryges of the cuirass visible at the shoulder. The Greek imperial titulature runs around the periphery of the flan as a circular legend. The portrait exhibits the naturalistic, slightly idealized treatment typical of provincial bronzes struck under the Antonine dynasty.
