| Obverse description | Bare head of Augustus facing right, rendered in the classical Roman portrait tradition as founder (ktistes) of Nicopolis. The bust is truncated at the shoulder with no drapery visible. The Greek legend ΚΤΙϹΤΗϹ ΑΥΓΟΥϹΤΟϹ surrounds the effigy, identifying Augustus as the city's founder. The portrait style follows the idealized Augustan type standard on provincial bronzes of Nicopolis, with fine facial modelling despite the modest flan size. |
