| Reverse description | A river god reclines to the left across the field, his semi-nude figure rendered in the classical Hellenistic tradition typical of provincial Phrygian coinage. He holds ears of corn in his extended hand, an allusion to the agricultural fertility of the region's river valley. The figure rests upon a rocky or watery base, consistent with conventional iconography for fluvial deities on Asia Minor civic bronzes. The ethnic legend of the issuing city encircles the design within a dotted border. |
