| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Elagabalus facing right, seen from the rear, with paludamentum visible over the left shoulder. The imperial effigy is rendered in typical provincial style of the Severan period. The circumferential Greek legend surrounds the bust in the field. The coin exhibits heavy green patination consistent with a well-circulated provincial bronze. |

| Reverse description | Front elevation of a tetrastyle or distyle temple depicted with two prominent columns, a globe or disc motif set within the pediment, and the cult statue of Artemis Ephesia (Ephesian Artemis) standing facing within the temple cella. The goddess is shown in the characteristic hieratic pose, wearing the kalathos (polos crown) and adorned with the traditional supports or lateral ornaments flanking her body. The reverse legend encircling the design proclaims Ephesus as a four-time neocorate city, a title of great civic prestige in the Roman imperial period. |
