Reverse description Turreted and draped bust of the Tyche of Edessa facing left, her mural crown rendered as a distinctive city-wall turret, symbolizing the protective deity of the colonia. The bust is depicted with drapery over the shoulder in a style consistent with provincial Mesopotamian civic types of the Severan period. A Greek legend surrounds the field, reading ΚΟΛω Μ ΑΡ ΕΔΕϹϹΑ, referencing the city's status as Colonia Marcia Edessa. The reverse fabric is irregularly struck, as is characteristic of hammered provincial bronzes from this mint.
