Additional information

The unusual Ζ variant recorded on this type — rendered as a reversed or エ-shaped character — is a known quirk of certain Cyzicene civic issues and almost certainly reflects a local engraver working from a non-standard model rather than any official instruction from Rome. Cyzicus held considerable autonomy in its civic bronze production, and minor epigraphic oddities of this kind surface with enough consistency to suggest workshop convention rather than error.
