| Obverse description | Bare laureate head of Emperor Commodus facing right, rendered in the provincial style typical of Bithynian civic coinage of the late 2nd century AD. The portrait displays the characteristic features of Commodus with a wreath of laurel leaves crowning the head. The Greek legend encircles the effigy in the field, reading Λ ΑΙΛ ΑΥΡΗΛΙΟϹ ΚΟΜΜΟΔΟϹ, identifying the emperor by his full titulature. The surfaces show a dark green-brown patina consistent with prolonged burial, and the flan is slightly irregular at the edges. |
