| Obverse description | Full-length standing figure of the Emperor Claudius in togatus dress, capite velato (head veiled in the manner of a Roman sacrificial priest), facing left or three-quarters, holding a patera in his extended right hand and a long sceptre in his left. The figure is rendered in the provincial Greek tradition, with the folds of the toga indicated in low relief. The encircling Greek legend names the emperor in the nominative case. |
