| Reverse description | A Capricorn — the personal emblem of Augustus, here retained under Caligula — shown moving to the left, with a cornucopia rising from its back, symbolising imperial prosperity and divine favour. To the left of the type a monogram incorporating the letters ΡΚ (tentatively identified) appears in the field. The reverse legend, arranged around the type in multiple lines, records the city ethnic ΦΙΛΑΔΕΛΦΕΩΝ together with the honorific epithet ΦΙΛΟΚΑΙϹΑΡ ('friend of Caesar') and the name of the local magistrate ΑΝΤΙΟΧΟϹ ΑΠΟΛΛΟΔΟΤΟΥ, identifying him as the civic official responsible for the issue. The inscription is rendered in clear Greek capitals on an irregularly shaped bronze flan. |
