| Obverse description | Bare head of the emperor Caligula (Gaius Caesar) facing right, rendered in the provincial Greek style with close-cropped hair and youthful features typical of early Julio-Claudian portraiture. The effigy occupies the central field, with the Greek legend ΓΑΙΟϹ ΚΑΙϹΑΡ disposed around the periphery. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, consistent with provincial hammered coinage of the period. |

| Reverse description | A Capricorn — the dynastic emblem of Augustus and the Julio-Claudian house — depicted facing left, bearing a cornucopia on its back, the whole rendered in low relief within the central field. To the left, a monogram incorporating the letters ΠΑΕ (reading uncertain) appears in the field. The surrounding circular legend names the city of Philadelphia and the local magistrate Kleandros, disposed in two or three lines across the lower field and periphery. |
