Obverse description Bare head of the emperor Augustus facing right, rendered in the provincial Greek style typical of Phrygian civic coinage of the Augustan period. The portrait displays the characteristic short, lightly striated hair of Augustus, with the effigy occupying the majority of the flan. The Greek legend ΣΕΒΑΣΤΟΣ (Sebastos, the Greek equivalent of Augustus) runs along the right field. The coin exhibits a dark patina with areas of green encrustation consistent with its bronze composition and age.
