| Reverse description | Apollo standing right, depicted in full figure and dressed in a long chiton, holding a kithara (lyre) and appearing to play it. The god is rendered in a static, frontal-leaning stance characteristic of Phrygian civic bronzes of the Augustan period. The multi-line Greek legend surrounds the figure, identifying the local magistrate Diphilos son of Diphilos, serving as archon for the second time, and naming the civic authority of the Hierapolitans. The inscription fills the left field and the periphery of the coin in multiple lines. |
