Parium, the old Macedonian colony on the Propontis, retained exceptional mint activity well into the Antonine period — unusual for a city of its regional standing. This piece belongs to a group of locally struck bronzes commemorating the imperial family during the co-regency years, when Antoninus Pius formally elevated Marcus Aurelius and later associated Lucius Verus with the succession. The pairing of Verus and Faustina on a provincial issue reflects how aggressively Parium aligned its civic coinage with dynastic messaging from Rome.
