| Obverse description | Laureate head of Antoninus Pius facing right, with finely rendered drapery visible at the shoulder. The effigy is rendered in the typical provincial style of Asia Minor, with the laurel wreath clearly articulated around the head. The legend ΚΑΙϹΑΡ ΑΝΤΩΝΙΝΟϹ runs around the periphery of the flan, identifying the emperor as Caesar Antoninus. The portrait conveys the mature, bearded visage characteristic of Antoninus Pius's official iconography throughout his reign. |
