| Obverse description | Bare youthful head of Lucius Verus facing right, rendered in the provincial Greek style typical of Mytilenean coinage of the mid-second century AD. The portrait displays the characteristic short, lightly curled hair of the young Caesar prior to his elevation to co-emperor. The circumferential Greek legend ΛΟΥΚΙΟϹ ΑΙ ΚΑΙϹΑΡ runs around the field, identifying the subject as Lucius Aelius Caesar. The flan is slightly irregular, consistent with hand-struck provincial bronze production. |
