Reverse description Three legionary standards arranged side by side in the field, each mounted on a staff and adorned with decorative elements including wreaths or discs, a common civic reverse type on Nicaean provincial bronze. The standards are depicted frontally, resting on a ground line, and are flanked by the ethnic legend of the city in two parts. A suspension hole is visible at the top of the flan. The design reflects the military symbolism frequently employed in the civic coinage of Bithynia during the reign of Valerian and Gallienus.
