| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of the Emperor Trajan facing right, rendered in the provincial Greek style typical of Mysian civic coinage. The laureate wreath is clearly delineated, with the drapery visible at the truncation of the shoulder. The surrounding Greek legend reads ΑΥΤ ΤΡΑΙΑΝΟϹ ϹΕΒ(Α), identifying the emperor with his imperial titles in abbreviated form. The portrait, though struck on an irregular flan, displays the characteristic strong-jawed Trajanic effigy standard to issues of the Pergamene mint during the early second century AD. |
