| Obverse description | Bare laureate head of Caracalla facing right, rendered in the provincial style typical of Bithynian civic coinage of the Severan period. The portrait displays the characteristic youthful features of the emperor, with a wreath of laurel encircling the head. A Greek legend runs around the periphery of the flan, identifying the ruler by his imperial titulature. The flan is irregular and the surfaces show heavy patination consistent with prolonged burial, partially obscuring the fine detail of the die engraving. |
