Obverse description Bare-headed bust of Diadumenian as Caesar facing right, depicted with youthful features and short hair. The legend DIADVMENIANVS CAE(S) runs around the periphery in Latin characters. The flan is irregular and the field shows typical provincial surface patination. A dotted border frames the design.

Reverse description Mercury standing facing, head turned to the left, nude save for a chlamys draped over one shoulder. In his right hand he holds a purse, and in his left hand a caduceus, the attributes emblematic of commerce and divine messenger. The colonial Latin legend C I F SINOP CCLXI, denoting Colonia Iulia Felix Sinope and the local year CCLXI (261 of the Sinopean era), runs around the field. A dotted border frames the reverse type.
