| Reverse description | Tyche standing left in full figure, draped in a long chiton, holding a rudder downward in her right hand and a cornucopia in her left hand, emblems of fortune and abundance. The Greek civic legend ΦΙΛΑΔΕΛΦΕΩΝ is disposed in the field around the figure, identifying the issuing city of Philadelphia in Lydia. The reverse type conforms closely to standard Lydian civic coinage conventions of the Hadrianic period. The surface shows considerable wear and corrosion consistent with long circulation and burial, but the standing figure remains identifiable. |
