| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, rendered in three-quarter view from the rear, a characteristic provincial die-cutting convention. The imperial effigy displays the radiate crown replaced here by a laurel wreath, with paludamentum visible over the cuirass. The Greek legend encircles the bust in the field, partially visible along the periphery of this small flan. The portrait exhibits the youthful features typical of Gordian III's provincial coinage, with broad shoulders and a well-defined drapery fold at the shoulder. |
