| Reverse description | Central motif of a rosette of raised dots arranged within a filleted crescent, the horns of the crescent pointing upward and adorned with a fillet or taenia. The design is a well-known lunar-religious symbol associated with the cult centre of Carrhae, sacred to the moon god Sin. A civic Greek legend is disposed around the field, partially legible near the coin's edge on the irregular flan. The type reflects the strong local religious identity of the Carrhae colonial mint under Elagabalus. |
