| Obverse description | Radiate head of Emperor Domitian facing right, rendered in the provincial Greek style typical of Bithynian civic coinage. The radiate crown, a common attribute associating the emperor with solar divinity, is visible above the portrait. A Greek legend surrounds the effigy within the border of the flan, reading ΑΥΤ ΔΟΜΙΤΙ ΚΑΙΣΑΡ ΣΕΒ ΓΕΡ, abbreviated from the emperor's full titulature identifying him as Emperor Domitian Caesar Augustus Germanicus. The portrait, though worn, presents the characteristic Flavian physiognomy in low relief. |
