| Obverse description | Bare or lightly draped bust of Augustus facing right, rendered in a provincial style characteristic of North African municipal coinage of the Augustan period. The portrait displays the characteristic facial features of the emperor with a slightly idealized treatment of the hair. A partial Latin legend surrounds the bust, attributing the issue to the local magistrate Gaius Flaminius Capitolinus. The flan is irregular and slightly ragged at the edges, consistent with locally produced hammered bronze coinage. The coin surface exhibits a dark patina with areas of corrosion and wear obscuring finer detail. |
