| Obverse description | Bare head of Gaius Caesar facing right, rendered in the youthful Julio-Claudian portrait style with close-cropped hair. The effigy occupies the central field and is executed in low relief, consistent with provincial die-cutting of the Augustan period. The legend ΓΑΙΟΣ appears in Greek script, identifying the portrait as that of Gaius Caesar, grandson and adopted heir of Augustus. The flan is slightly irregular and the surfaces show typical patination associated with Phrygian provincial bronze coinage. |
