| Reverse description | Frontal cult statue of Artemis of Ephesus (Ephesia) standing erect, facing the viewer, adorned with a kalathos (cylindrical crown) atop her head and flanked by lateral supports at her sides. The goddess is depicted in the distinctive hieratic Ephesian manner, with her lower body encased in a sheath-like garment. A stag stands on each side of the cult image, serving as the sacred animals of Artemis. The ethnic legend of the issuing community is disposed around the type in the field. |
