| Obverse description | Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Emperor Trajan Decius facing right, depicted from behind, with the paludamentum fastened at the shoulder visible. The effigy is rendered in the provincial style characteristic of Samian civic coinage of the mid-third century AD. The Greek imperial legend encircles the bust in the field, reading partially around the periphery. |

| Reverse description | The ancient xoanon-type cult statue of Samian Hera depicted standing facing, rendered in the archaic hieratic style traditional to the sanctuary of the Heraion on Samos. The goddess is shown in rigid frontal pose, her arms held close to her body in the manner of the celebrated idol, consistent with the long-established iconographic convention for this deity on Samian civic coinage. The ethnic legend ϹΑΜΙΩΝ appears in the field around the figure. |
