Reverse description A large two-handled vase (cantharus or crater) depicted in the lower field, its body rendered with vertical ribbing and flanked by prominent lateral handles; from within the vessel emerge two crossed palm branches whose fronds spread outward and upward, filling the upper field. The composition is enclosed within a beaded border. The ethnic legend ΝΙΚΑΙΕΩΝ encircles the design, identifying the civic issuing authority of Nicaea in Bithynia.
