Reverse description Tyche, the personification of the city's fortune, stands facing with head turned to the left, wearing a kalathos (modius) atop her head. In her right hand she holds a ship's rudder, symbolizing guidance and prosperity, while in her left she bears a cornucopia overflowing with abundance. The encircling legend ΜΗΤΡΟΠΟΛΕΙΤΩΝ identifies the issuing civic authority of Metropolis in Ionia. The composition is consistent with standard Tyche reverse types common to Ionian provincial bronzes of the Severan era.
