Reverse description A crescent with horns pointing upward occupies the central field, with three six-pointed stars arranged above and within the crescent — two stars above the crescent's tips and one star centrally placed within the concave interior. The design is enclosed within a beaded inner border. The circular Greek ethnic legend ΜΑΡΚΙΑΝΟΠΟΛΙΤΩΝ runs around the periphery, identifying the issuing city of Marcianopolis, within an outer beaded border. This astral reverse type, associating the city with celestial symbolism, is a well-attested type for Marcianopolis provincial bronzes of this period.
