Obverse description Bare laureate head of the Emperor Claudius facing right, rendered in the provincial Egyptian style with somewhat schematic features. The portrait shows the characteristic Julio-Claudian physiognomy adapted to local Alexandrian die-cutting tradition. The abbreviated Greek legend ΤΙΒ ΚΛΑΥ appears in the field, identifying the emperor as Tiberius Claudius.
