Reverse description Demeter standing facing with head turned to the left, draped in a long chiton and himation. In her right hand she holds ears of grain (wheat stalks), and in her left hand she grasps a long sceptre or torch. The figure is rendered in the schematic provincial style characteristic of Bithynian civic bronzes. The ethnic legend ΝΙΚΑΙΕΩΝ is inscribed in the field around the figure, identifying the issuing city of Nicaea.
