| Obverse description | Bare-headed, laureate bust of Caracalla facing right, with youthful features and short beard, the neck draped. The Greek legend encircles the effigy in the field, reading ΑΝΤΩΝΙΝΟϹ ΑΥΓΟ, identifying the emperor by his imperial cognomen Antoninus Augustus. The portrait is rendered in the provincial style characteristic of Bithynian civic coinage of the Severan period. |
