Reverse description Telesphorus, the chthonic healing deity closely associated with the sanctuary of Asclepius at Pergamum, depicted standing full-length, facing, enveloped in a heavy hooded cloak that obscures all features save the head. The figure stands centrally in the field in the characteristic hieratic, pillar-like posture for which Telesphorus is iconographically known. The encircling Greek legend ΠΕΡΓΑΜΗΝΩΝ, identifying the coin as a civic issue of the Pergamenes, appears around the periphery of the flan.
