| Obverse description | Bearded bust of Heracles facing right, draped in the Nemean lion skin knotted at the neck, rendered in the provincial Greek style typical of Ionian civic bronzes. The hero's characteristic leonine headdress frames the face, with the lion's paws visible at the chest. The encircling Greek legend ΟΠΛΟΦΥΛΑΖ (Armoury-Keeper) appears in the field, referencing a cult title or civic office associated with Heracles at Smyrna. The flan is irregular and the relief somewhat worn, consistent with the small module and hammered production of the issue. |
