| Obverse description | Laureate bust of Caracalla facing right, with draped and possibly cuirassed shoulder visible. A partial Greek legend runs along the periphery, reading AVTOKΡATΩ(...), the remainder obscured by die wear and the coin's irregular flan. The portrait displays the characteristic youthful features associated with early Caracalla coinage from Syrian provincial mints. The overall style is typical of provincial Roman bronzes struck at Rhesaena in Mesopotamia. |
