Reverse description A centrally placed laurel branch with symmetrical pinnate leaves extending upward from a single stem, occupying the full height of the die. The Greek civic legend ΙΕΡΑΠΟΛΕΙΤΩΝ appears divided to the left of the branch, while ΑΤΤΑΛΟΣ, the name of the local magistrate responsible for the issue, appears to the right. The inscription identifies the issuing city of Hierapolis and the eponymous magistrate Attalos.
