Additional information

Latopolis — modern Esna, roughly 55 kilometers south of Luxor — was a cult center for the Nile perch, the fish whose Greek name gave the city its title. Provincial bronzes struck in Alexandria for circulation in Upper Egypt were often tied to local religious calendars, and the L ΙΑ date formula marks this piece to year 11 of Hadrian's reign, corresponding to 126/127 AD, during his extended tour of Egypt — a journey that left a pronounced administrative and monumental footprint along the Nile valley.
