Additional information

Thyatira, a Lydian city better known from its textile and dyeing guilds than from its coinage, struck extensively under Caracalla as part of the broader civic minting activity that flourished when emperors needed local goodwill — and cities needed the prestige of imperial association. The anomaly here is the weight: 9 grams on a 14mm flan is unusually dense, suggesting either significant die wear causing metal spread or, more likely, a poorly centered or mis-measured specimen. Most issues of this module from the Pergamene conventus run considerably lighter.
