Additional information

Perperene was a minor Mysian town of little political consequence, and its civic coinage is correspondingly sparse. The misspelled ethnic — ΠΕΡΠΕΡΗΝΩ rather than the expected ΠΕΡΠΕΡΗΝΩΝ — almost certainly reflects a local engraver working without close supervision from a central authority, a situation entirely plausible for a community this small operating on the fringes of the Pergamene conventus.
