Additional information

Year 19 of Antoninus Pius's reign, which this coin's regnal date records, fell during a period of administrative calm in Egypt — the province was tightly managed under the prefect system and rarely minted anything beyond routine civic necessity. Alexandria's output in small bronze denominations like this was enormous in volume but chaotic in survival, and pieces under 15mm were melted or lost at rates that make even undistinguished examples genuinely scarce today.
