Reverse description A square meander labyrinth occupies the entire reverse field, rendered in incuse or relief lines forming a geometric maze pattern of multiple concentric rectangular paths leading to a central square. This iconic motif is a direct reference to the legendary Labyrinth of Knossos associated with the Minotaur myth, a symbol closely identified with Cnossus throughout its coinage history. The design is boldly struck and nearly fills the flan, with the legend D D (Decreto Decurionum) appearing in the field, attesting to civic authorization. The overall style is consistent with Roman provincial bronzes of the Julio-Claudian period.
