Obverse description Laureate, cuirassed and paludamentum-draped bust of Emperor Commodus facing right, depicted in the provincial military manner typical of Arabian civic coinage. The effigy is rendered in low relief consistent with small hammered provincial bronze issues. The obverse legend, partially legible around the bust, identifies the emperor as Commodus Antoninus in Greek characters. The flan is irregular and slightly clipped at the upper edge, a characteristic feature of small-denomination civic bronzes from Bostra.
