| Reverse description | Head of Aphrodite, the eponymous deity of Aphrodisias, facing right, shown with an elaborate coiffure consistent with Hellenistic divine portraiture. The goddess is rendered in a style closely related to the famous sculptural tradition of Aphrodisias. A Greek inscription is disposed around the central effigy in the field, identifying the issuing community. The coin's reverse reflects the civic pride of the sympolity of Plarasa and Aphrodisias in Caria. |
