Additional information

Year 7 of Antoninus Pius's reign corresponds to 143–144 AD, a period when the Alexandrian mint was producing a remarkable volume of small bronze issues in fractional denominations. Coins of this size and weight from Alexandria are among the most difficult to attribute with confidence — the "L" notation denotes the regnal year in the Greek manner, but die deterioration and poor metal quality on these tiny flans frequently render the numeral ambiguous, hence the query mark in the type designation.
