The creature, combining the foreparts of a goat with the tail of a fish, is rendered in the schematic style typical of small Alexandrian bronze issues. The Greek legend ΣΕΒΑΣΤΟΥ appears in the field, with the regnal year designation L ΛΗ (year 38 of the Augustan era) placed above the device.
