| Reverse description | Capricorn depicted in right profile, the dynastic symbol of Augustus associated with his birth sign and widely employed on Augustan coinage throughout the Roman world. The creature, combining the foreparts of a goat with the tail of a fish, is rendered in the schematic style typical of small Alexandrian bronze issues. The Greek legend ΣΕΒΑΣΤΟΥ appears in the field, with the regnal year designation L ΛΗ (year 38 of the Augustan era) placed above the device. The flan is irregular and the legend partially obscured by wear. |
