| Obverse lettering | IMP TI(B) CAES AVG COS IIII (Translation: Emperor Tiberius Caesar Augustus, consul for the fourth time) |
| Reverse description | Livia (Julia Augusta), mother of Tiberius, depicted veiled and seated to the right upon an ornate throne or chair, holding a patera in her extended right hand and a long vertical sceptre in her left. The figure is rendered in a formal, hieratic manner befitting her quasi-divine status as Augusta. The circumferential Latin legend proclaims her title AVGVSTA MATER PATRIA, a remarkable honorific reflecting her exceptional political prominence under Tiberius. The reverse flan is broad and irregularly shaped, with the design somewhat off-centre and the legend partially visible around the periphery. |
